I’m not saying this is major news but it’s absolutely worthy of an article. It’s a very significant increase.

I meant for the average person it’s not big news. The likelihood that the average person would use this tech in the next ten years is slim to none considering MOST networks use standards dating to the late 90s to early 2000s. A majority still use cat5, if you’re lucky, Cat5e. Only much more modern places use cat6, and even rarer is fibre optics.
Most ISPs won’t shell out the kinda cash to upxe their last mile infrastructure (what goes into your house/aparmebt) and apartments sure as hell won’t rip out and upxe their cabling infrastructure. Hell some are still using copper coaxial cables.
Your interest speed is only as fast as the slowest lix. So if your home wiring is max 100mbps, if you’re paying for for 1gbps, but your wifi is still an old one that does 50mbps, you’re getting max 50mbps and you’re wasting your money on the rest.
Most modern drivers can’t write at those kind of speeds, most network interface cards can’t handle those speeds. So even if you were to somehow have a connection that supported those speeds, your device wouldn’t even be able to use it.

我的意思是对于普通人而言这不是什么大新闻。未来十年普通人可以使用到这个技术的可能性几乎为零，因为多数网络依然在使用90年代末期和00年代初期的标准。多数依然使用cat5，如果你幸运，那就是cat5e。只有更加现代的地方才使用cat6，甚至光纤都更加鲜见。
多数的网络服务提供者不会拿出那么多钱来升级他们最后一英里的基建（就是进入你家里/公寓里的那一段），你所在的公寓也不会升级自己的电缆基建。有些依然在使用铜同轴电缆。
你的网络速度只和最慢的链接一样快。如果你家里的线路最快速度是100mbps，如果你付钱买的是1gbps的，那你的WiFi也依然是旧有的，只能给你提供50mbps，所以你最多只能获得50mbps的速度，剩下的钱都浪费了。
多数现在驱动器无法以这么快速度编写，多数的网络接口卡无法应对这样的速度。所以即便你拥有了某个可以支持这种速度的连接，你的设备也无法使用之。
